Purchasing a Chihuahua
ACCEPTED PAYMENTS FOR A PUPPY:
Deposits are 25% or a minimum of $150, whichever is greater, of the purchase price of your puppy. The deposit amount is subtracted from the total
purchase price of the puppy. Once a puppy is chosen and a deposit is placed, it is non-refundable. I will accept cash or postal money orders or
Paypal (all major credit cards, existing funds or e-checks) for a deposit. With credit cards and Paypal a 3.5% fee is added to your total. Under no
circumstances do I accept personal checks, no exceptions, period. Once a deposit is received, the puppy is on hold for you until 7 weeks old
when full payment is due.
You must contact me via telephone or email after your deposit/payment has been sent to have your puppy placed on a "hold"! After a reasonable
amount of time, if the deposit has not been received, the puppy will be taken off hold and will be offered again for sale and should another party
agree to purchase said puppy, your deposit will be mailed back to you, once received, and you will lose any hold over said puppy!!! It is your
responsibility to make sure your deposit is received in a timely fashion so you don't lose your puppy! I will notify you after receiving your
deposit/payment via telephone call or email and the puppy will then be changed to a "sold" status.
Payment in full including shipping for your puppy is required on or before the puppy is 7 weeks old regardless of delivery date. If your puppy is not
paid for in full by 7 weeks old, your puppy will be available for sale to another party and your deposit will be forfeited.
Repeat buyers are always entitled to a $50.00 discount of all future puppy purchases. My puppies are like potato chips, you can't have just one! :)
Please email or call me before sending a deposit.
WHAT YOUR PUPPY COMES WITH:
Puppies that are picked up or are hand delivered come with a puppy pack. Items vary but usually include a soft plush toy, a fetch ball, treats, chews,
a can of puppy food and a sample of the food your puppy has been raised on! All puppies come with a minimum of one set of age appropriate puppy
vaccinations, dewormings, a health record and a 12 month written limited health guarantee. Puppies are not weaned or separated from their Mother
and littermates until 8 weeks of age to insure that they are healthy and well adjusted puppies prior to placement in their new homes!
Puppies that are shipped will have their important paperwork mailed separate. Paperwork that will be mailed will include any registration paperwork,
health record, vet records, and health guarantee. Puppies that are shipped come with two soft snuggly toys and a nice soft dog bed in their shipping
crate.
DELIVERY OF A PUPPY:
I prefer to have my puppies picked up in my home because this is the safest and least stressful on my puppies. I am also willing to drive up to sixty
miles one way to help with the delivery or your puppy. Occasionally I am able to arrange delivery to Madison, Wisconsin for an additional $50.00.
Please contact me for details.
Shipping is $275. Your shipping price will include your puppy’s airline expenses, a new travel crate, and a veterinarian health certificate. Northwest
Airlines is the only airline I ship with and most puppies are able to be shipped to a Northwest Airline cargo facility. In airports where there is not a
cargo facility there will be a V.I.P. charge that will also be the buyers responsibility or the buyer will have to drive to another airport. Also, if the puppy
must be put into day or night kennel at any transfer point in shipment, the boarding fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
I will do my part in only shipping healthy and robust puppies. My veterinarian(s) will ensure that only healthy puppies are shipped as I have to get a
health certificate for every animal that is delivered via airline. I take measures to ensure their health upon arrival by giving them food and water
before leaving. I pad down the crate with a soft dog pet so they are comfortable and dry. Northwest is very experienced in shipping live animals and
very rarely does any harm come to a live animal in their care. However, as stated above, shipping is not my first choice and I do so only out of
courtesy for my customers. Once my puppies leave my hands, I have no control over them and the customer requesting delivery via airline will have
to assume all the responsibilities for the risks therein.
Instructions for Receiving at the Airport:
To ensure that your puppy recovers quickly from the stress of shipping, I ask you to follow these instructions:
1. Be on time to pick up your puppy; do not make them wait longer!
2. Bring NutriCal with you and give your puppy NutriCal before you leave the airport. This helps with stress and will greatly reduce the chance of
hypoglycemia.
3. Make sure your puppy is clean and dry and offer food and water at your first opportunity. If he/she won’t eat dry food, offer him/her dry food mixed
with canned puppy food. Be sure that your puppy eats and drinks as soon as possible to avoid hypoglycemia.
4. Take your puppy home for rest, do NOT take them around to show them off. Shipping is stressful and your puppy needs rest in a quiet place for
the rest of the day.
5. Please note that if you fail to pick up your puppy at the airport and your puppy has to be sent back to me, you will forfeit all money paid toward your
puppy and you will not be allowed to have that puppy or any other puppy from us.
My Chihuahua puppies will be shipped only after they are 8 weeks old and in the case of a small Chihuahua, maybe not until 10-12 weeks old.
I reserve the right to hold a puppy should I think it’s necessary for the health or safety of a puppy to ship at a later date.
MY HEALTH GUARANTEE
What I Do Cover:
I guarantee my puppies for twelve (12) months from date of birth for life threatening genetic disorders. If the puppy were found to have a life
threatening congenital defect, the seller would replace the puppy with one of equal value, when available, upon the return of the puppy and the
registration papers at the buyer’s expense. I require a written statement from a licensed vet detailing the condition as soon as the condition is known.
I reserve the right to ask for a second opinion from a licensed veterinarian of my choice. Any vet bills incurred to diagnose or repair a problem will be
the responsibility of the buyer.
What I Do Not Cover:
I do not guarantee against conditions that may be triggered by stress related from the move to a new home or by the shipping process. Certain
medical conditions triggered by such stresses such as coccidiosis and hypoglycemia are an inherent risk in purchasing a puppy and cannot always
be avoided, but they can be treated. I also do not cover giardia, worms and other internal and external parasites as these are common to puppies. I
cannot guarantee against any other future health problems with my puppies. Owning a pet is a risk and it’s inevitable that there will be vet bills and
health concerns within your puppy’s life. Children don’t come with health guarantees and neither do pets! Know the risks and responsibilities of
owning a dog before you consider purchasing one from me or anyone else! I also make no guarantee as to color, size, or future fertility. All vet bills
are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
Before Sale:
The buyer understands that the puppy being purchased has been seen by the seller’s veterinarian(s) and fully checked before being allowed to
leave. My puppies are guaranteed to be in good health at the time of sale. I will not sell a sick puppy and you will not buy a puppy from me without full
disclosure on the health of the puppy. If a minor problem is ever found, it will be discussed with you before you buy/receive the puppy. You would
then have the option of continuing the purchase of this puppy or declining. In the event that there is a problem with the puppy, I would refund all
money if you decided not to purchase the puppy. If you choose to purchase a puppy regardless of a medical condition, all veterinarian bills resulting
are your responsibility.
After Sale:
The buyer agrees to take puppy to a licensed vet within 72 hours of leaving sellers possession for an examination to ensure puppy is in good health.
If a licensed veterinarian does not see the puppy within 72 hours and a copy of the vet examination is not sent to the seller, then this contract is void.
You MUST take your puppy to the vet and remit a copy of the exam to me to have any health guarantee.
BUYERS RESPONSIBILITIES:
The buyer agrees to abide by the obligations stated in the health contract for this puppy. The buyer agrees to get medical attention for the puppy by
a licensed veterinarian in the event of illness. The buyer also agrees to keep the puppy current on all vaccines and de-worming.
**It is important that your puppy not be exposed to other dogs, dog feces, parks, etc until your puppy finishes out his/her vaccination schedule. Some
puppies have maternal antibodies that inhibit vaccinations from working even when properly administered. Maternal antibodies rapidly decline after 8
weeks of age so that the 8, 12 and 16 week old shots much more effectively immunize. Parvo is deadly and can be tracked in on shoes, clothing, etc
and is a real risk to your puppy. Please do not expose your puppy to the public until they are fully immunized and at least 12 weeks old. You DO NOT
want to bring them home with Parvo unknowingly because the risk of death from this disease is great. Your puppy should also be put on a heartworm
preventative between 4 and 6 months of age.
The buyer agrees to feed appropriate food and in the appropriate amounts. Buyer agrees to provide adequate shelter, love, and attention to the
puppy. A puppy is a long-term commitment and should be treated as such.
I believe I have very nice dogs and want the best of homes for them. Please educate yourself and be fully aware of the responsibility of owning a dog
before you consider purchasing one of my puppies. Be sure to research the breed before purchasing a puppy so you know what to expect. Since you
are purchasing a toy breed, be sure to do your research on hypoglycemia, as this condition is common in toy breeds and can be deadly. There are
many ways to prevent this from happening, however, if you are ill informed you could lose your puppy to this condition. Please make sure to read the
information I have provided on my website regarding hypoglycemia by clicking HERE.
IF AT A LATER DATE, YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR PUPPY:
If at any time in the life of the puppy that you buy from me, the buyer is unable to keep the dog for whatever reason, the seller will accept the dog
back and find a suitable home for him/her. However, no exchange of money or replacement is offered in this circumstance. I care about my dogs first
and foremost and will take back any dog that I have sold should the buyer ever decide that he/she couldn't keep him/her. I aim to provide high quality
purebred dogs to loving homes and do not want my dogs in shelters or mistreated in any way.
LEGAL:
I reserve the right to refuse to sell a puppy to anyone, for any reason. I will not knowingly sell to pet stores, puppy mills or brokers. My main
concern lies in the welfare and treatment of the puppies I have raised and I want to ensure that my puppies go to good homes. If I have reason to
suspect that a potential home may not be safe or suitable for any puppy, I also reserve the right to refuse sale even after a non-refundable deposit
has been placed, however in this situation the deposit would be refunded to the buyer.
I reserve the right to make changes and update this agreement from time to time. However, when you sign my guarantee, it is legal and binding from
the moment it is signed! Any changes after signing, however small or large, are ONLY effective IN WRITING and must be agreed upon and signed by
BOTH parties! Both the Buyer and the Seller will receive signed copies of all agreements and guarantees.
If any legal action incurs in conjunction with this sale, all proceedings must take place in my county of residence, Ashland County, Wisconsin.

* All buyers MUST read and agree to ALL terms listed below! Failure to comply may result in loss of guarantee and possibly
loss of said dog/puppy! It is your sole responsibility to make sure you read and understand everything before committing to
purchase one of my puppies!
